Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a comprehensive system of soft-tissue manipulation techniques which addresses the release of tissues layer by layer, superficial-to-deep, treating origins and insertions as well as the belly of the muscles. It does not require a great deal of pressure to be effective.
Integrative neuromuscular therapy approaches healing from a holistic perspective (mind/body), stimulating the body to heal on its own to yield long-term results.
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, light-touch therapy that facilitates profound physical and emotional changes in the patient. It is subtle palpating body movements that accentuate and coincide with the craniosacral pumping action of the cerebral spinal fluid which improves the functioning of the brain and spinal cord and resets the nervous system, which decreases the stimuli to overstimulated nerves resulting in improved functioning of all the major systems of the body, relaxation of traumatized muscles and organs, more appropriate alignment of the skeletal frame, dissipation of the negative effects of prolonged stress and releasing accumulated mental/emotional trauma.
Because NMT and craniosacral therapy are so effective, there is no need for deep pressure. The “dig it out” method is never used in NMT, as it is not just a quick fix, it is meant to create long-term results as stated above by “pulling the plug” on the pain cycle and re-setting the central nervous system, which will ultimately benefit the patient by eliminating the cause of a person’s acute to chronic pain and emotional distress.
